Dinosaurs ready to stomp at Telford's Carnival of Giants today

Dinosaur enthusiasts of all ages are in for an enormous treat at Carnival of Giants in Telford today.

The Travelling Natural History Museum will be bringing along a huge selection of prehistoric creatures and activities to Carnival of Giants, making it a day out not to be missed.

The event will also include a 500 person parade, sports, activities, market and mini fair.

Councillor Liz Clare, cabinet member for Culture, Sport, Parks and Green Spaces, said: “I’m thrilled to be welcoming the Travelling Natural History Museum to the borough for Carnival of Giants next month. It will truly be an awesome spectacle to see all these dinosaurs taking over the QEII Arena in the Town Park.

“Children and adults alike are going to be blown away by the sheer size and scale of the prehistoric creatures on display, and while the emphasis of the day will be about having fun I have no doubt that everyone who attends will learn a little bit more about dinosaurs then they knew before.

“Carnival of Giants is going to be a fantastic day out for all the family, with lots to see and do and it’s all taking place in the ‘Best Park in the UK’ or as it will be better known on 16 July the ‘Best Jurassic Park in the UK’!”

The Carnival of Giants is supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England. Peter Knott, Area Director, Arts Council England, said: “We want everyone to have opportunities to enjoy arts and culture in the places they live, which is why we’re investing in Telford & Wrekin Council’s plans for its summer festivals.

“The Carnival of Giants will be a great day out full of art, culture and prehistoric visitors. We hope people will be entertained and inspired.”

Carnival of Giants takes place from 11am to 4pm on Saturday 16 July, with a parade at 2pm.

However, there is parking available in following locations: Telford Shopping Centre short stay and long stay car parks, Telford International Centre, Addenbrooke House (Council offices), Darby House (Council offices).
