One man has died and another has been taken to a major trauma centre after a two vehicle crash near Claverley.

Man dies following two vehicle crash near Claverley

The collision occurred at around 10.15pm last night near to the Woodman Inn on the B4176 between Upper Ludstone and Upper Aston.

It involved a black Nissan Qashqai, which was travelling towards Bridgnorth, and a blue Volkswagen Scirocco, which was travelling in the opposite direction.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The middle aged man from one vehicle was rapidly extricated, but sadly despite advanced life support, it was not possible to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

“The 27 year old driver of the other vehicle had suffered a pelvic injury along with knee, ankle and seat belt injuries. He was immobilised and had a pelvic binder put in place before being taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.”

Police officers investigating the collision would like to hear from anyone who witnessed it or saw either vehicle, and the manner in which they were being driven, before the collision occurred.

Anyone with information is asked to contact West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident 859S of 19 July.
