The A41 is closed at Shakeford near Hinstock this morning after a lorry left the road and collided with a house late last night.

Lorry collides with house on A41 at Shakeford

Emergency service were called to the incident at just before 11pm yesterday.

The driver of the vehicle managed to leave the cab before emergency services arrived at the scene. He was treated by paramedics and ambulance personnel.

The house is currently unoccupied, but it has been significantly damaged and the road has been closed. The lorry is currently embedded in a supporting wall. Before it can be removed, the building needs to be structurally supported, then made safe and the lorry removed before the road can be reopened.

West Mercia Police are appealing for witnesses as they believe a second lorry was involved and failed to stop causing the collision. Anyone with information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101.

Diversion in Place
The main diversion route from the North is directing traffic at Ternhill Island onto the A53 towards Hodnet, then onto the A442 into the Telford and Wrekin area, then onto the B5062 at Crudgington towards Newport, before re-joining the A41. The diversion from the South is in reverse and starts in Telford and Wrekin.

There is a diversion in place for local traffic along the A529 between Hinstock and Market Drayton.
