Multi-vehicle collision closes A5 from Wellington to Shrewsbury
A multi-vehicle collision has closed the A5 between Wellington and Shrewsbury this morning.
Motorists are facing long delays following the closure westbound between junction 7 of the M54 at Wellington and the A5 Preston Roundabout in Shrewsbury.
The collision involved a number of vehicles.
A diversions is in operation via the B4380 (old A5) & B5061 whilst the A5 remains closed westbound.
Traffic is very heavy on the old A5 with delays being reported through Atcham and towards Emstrey.
A second collision closed the M54 between junctions 6 and 7 for a time. One person was airlifted to hospital following the three vehicle crash. The section of the motorway has now reopened.
Update: The A5 has reopened following the earlier closure for emergency resurfacing work.
