A girl has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car outside a Telford School.

The incident on Castlefields Way, outside Madeley Academy, occurred this morning involving a local taxi and a pedestrian.

Emergency crews were called to the scene at 8.21am after reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian. An ambulance and a paramedic area support officer were in attendance along with the Midlands Air Ambulance.

On arrival, crews treated a young girl for a head injury, who was fully conscious, she was then transported to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.

Although the Midlands Air Ambulance was called from Cosford it was not required.

The road was partially closed for a time while police investigated and have appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them by calling 101, stating incident number 3359.

Some parents have raised their concern about the safety of the road on social media.
