Police are appealing to the public for information following the arrest of a man in connection to two incidents of indecent exposure in Telford.

Man arrested in connection with two incidents of indecent exposure in Telford

The first incident happened between 10pm and 10.15pm on Thursday 25 August, as two women were walking from a shop on Kingsland in Arleston. They noticed a man sat in a parked vehicle with its headlights on and when the women walked past they noticed he was performing a lewd act in the car. He then attempted to speak to the victims whilst continuing to perform the act. Both women walked off and the car then pulled in front of them and the man tried to speak to them. One of the victims threatened to call police and the man drove off.

The second incident happened the following day, Friday 26 August, between 7.40am and 7.45am. A woman in her 20s was walking towards the bus stop opposite the dental practice on the High Street in Madeley when she heard a man speaking to her from within a green vehicle. She then noticed the man was performing a lewd act. He made lewd comments towards her, before driving away.

An investigation was launched following the incidents, which are being treated as linked, and as part of that investigation a 27-year-old man from Telford was arrested on suspicion of outraging public decency. He has since been bailed to return to the police station on 27 September, pending further enquiries.

Investigating officers are eager to speak to anyone who witnessed either of the incidents. You can give information by calling West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident numbers 0809S of 25 August or 114S of 26 August 2016. Alternatively, information can also be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111 or via their website; www.crimestoppers-uk.org
