Shropshire Councillor Vivienne Parry has called on the Council to publicise a discount parking scheme for Ludlow Town centre.

Councillor calls for better publicity on parking deals in Ludlow

It comes after after complaints from tradesmen and others about the high cost of all day parking in the town.

Cllr Parry said: "I've had a number of complaints from the tradesmen and others people doing work in the town centre. They are having to pay £15 a day to do work in homes and the shops in town.

"What the Council haven't publicised however is that house and shop owners can buy tickets from the Council (via the Library) that will allow on street parking for the whole day for £1 (10 tickets in a book at £10 a book).

"Ludlow is a major tourist centre with a vibrant shopping centre and frequent events at the Assembly rooms and other venues in tow. It is critical that we allow access for tradespeople, suppliers and others to park in the town centre at reasonable cost.

"I have made strong representations to the Council to publicise this option more widely. I would also like to take this opportunity to urge property owners to take advantage of this scheme."
