Police receive complaints over ‘Telford Clowns’ Instagram account

Police in Telford have received a number of calls regarding an Instagram social media account which has been set up in the town.

The account had the username ‘Telford Clowns’ and had caused a number of people to complain that it had caused them distress over comments that had been posted.

It’s not believed the account was connected to the current craze of ‘horror clown’ pictures where people dress up and film themselves scaring innocent members of the public.

PCSO Ruth Williams from The Nedge Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “We have identified the people behind this page and they have been dealt with accordingly.

“We have notified Instagram who are in the process of closing the account down.”

She added “Once this is done the account and posts will no longer be viewable.”
