Police investigate suspected abduction attempt in Telford
Police are investigating a suspected abduction attempt outside the Hadley Learning Community in Telford yesterday.
The incident took place between 2.50pm and 3.10pm in which a young girl has been approached by an unknown woman driving a grey or silver coloured car, it is reported that she attempted to persuade the girl into the car.
The girl declined and ran back to the school to alert staff.
Detective Inspector Jason Everett said: "We're extremely concerned about this incident which has been traumatic for the victim but which could have been a lot more serious.
"I want to reassure residents and parents that we are continuing to conduct patrols in the area. Likewise, the girl involved and her family are being supported by specialist officers.
"We would encourage parents to speak with their children about talking to strangers. We would ask children to never go off with anyone they do not know, get into a vehicle with a stranger, accept gifts off a stranger or wander off on their own."
"We are very keen to speak to anyone who was an in the area at this time or who saw anyone acting suspiciously."
