The next stage of Severn Trent's £2 million scheme to connect customers to brand new water pipes in Shrewsbury begins on Monday.

The next stage of Severn Trent's £2 million scheme to connect customers to brand new water pipes in Shrewsbury begins on Monday.
The company says that vital work is due to take place over the next few weeks in the Roman Road area of the town.
Severn Trent spokesman, Gareth Mead, said: “We’ve been working really hard to replace two miles of pipes in Shrewsbury, and the next part of the project is to now connect customers up to the new pipes so they can start to see the benefits of the work we’ve been doing.
“We’ll be starting this next stage on Roman Road, near the junction of Ridgebourne Road, on Monday 17 October, when there will be traffic lights for a week, before we move on to Longden Island during the half term to minimise disruption for people doing the school run. We’ll be working here for five days to carry out further connections at other key locations such as Roman Road Rail Bridge and Kennedy Road junction.”
Severn Trent contract partners, Amey, are continuing to carry out the work on the scheme.
Gareth continues: “We’re also committed to providing our customers with a reliable, top quality water supply. I’d like to thank all the residents of Shrewsbury for their patience and understanding while we carry out this work and we’re really sorry for the temporary disruption caused by traffic lights, but I’m sure we’re all in agreement that the long-term benefits to Shrewsbury will be worth it.”
