Man dies following two vehicle collision near Newport
A man has died after an early morning crash on the A518 Newport to Stafford road about half a mile from Newport.

A silver Vauxhall Corsa and a blue Peugeot were involved in the collision at just before 6.45am today.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, crews found two cars that had suffered significant damage.
“Other motorists were attempting CPR on the driver of one car. Ambulance staff took over and carried out advanced life support on the middle aged man, but sadly his injuries were too severe and he was confirmed dead at the scene.
“The 43 year old man driving the other car had managed to get out before ambulance crews arrived. He was treated for fractures to his right collarbone and left thumb. He was taken by ambulance to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.”
Two ambulances were sent to the scene along with a paramedic area support officer and the aircrew from the Midlands Air Ambulance at Cosford, including a trauma doctor, who responded in a car.
Three fire appliances including the rescue tender were mobilised from Albrighton, Newport and Wellington. An operations officer also attended.
The road was closed until approximately 12.15pm whilst a detailed examination of the scene took place.
An investigation into the circumstances of the collision is now underway, and witnesses are asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident 90 of October 20.
