Shropshire-based dog rescue charity in desperate plea for foster and permanent homes

A Shropshire-based dog rescue charity is making an urgent appeal for foster and permanent homes for dogs because their kennel and foster spaces are full to bursting.

Shropshire-based dog rescue charity in desperate plea for foster and permanent homes

Finding Furever Homes (FFH) has filled up all the kennel space it uses in Condover, Shropshire and elsewhere and all of their existing foster homes are currently full to capacity.

Now the charity, which only helps the neediest of dogs, which many other charities turn away, is finding themselves in a position where they are unable to help any more animals.

Andrea Newton, Trustee for FFH, said: "We have had a number of long stay dogs which have been overlooked for homes and that plus the constant demand from stray kennels mean we are full to bursting but there are still animals in desperate need of our help, animals for which we are their last chance.

“It is heart-breaking as we have had to turn away 3 dogs in the last few days which we hate having to do but unless people come forward and rehome the existing dogs or come forward to provide temporary foster homes we have little choice.”

Now the charity is urging anyone looking for a dog to consider adopting from them and for anyone with space to consider providing an animal with a temporary foster home until it can be moved into a kennel space when one becomes available or ideally moved into a forever home when one is found.

Andrea said: “We provide support to all our dog foster carers and meet feed, veterinary and other costs so all they need to worry about is looking after the dog without the other burdens.

“We have a great network of people who foster for us and enjoy helping animals but we are desperate for more of these very special people who open their homes and hearts to dogs in desperate need.

In order to be able to fully support these foster homes FFH is looking for people in Shropshire, the Wirral and Cheshire.

Anyone interested in offering a foster home or a permanent home to a dog is urged to visit www.findingfureverhomes.org.uk and register there details.
