17,000 back Telford & Wrekin Council’s hospital campaign
More than 17,000 people have now pledged their support for Telford & Wrekin Council’s ‘PRH4Me’ campaign to keep emergency services at the Princess Royal Hospital.

The campaign, backed by all party leaders on the Council, was launched on March 17, 2016 to keep people informed about ‘Future Fit’, how it could affect them, share their stories and show others just how vital this local hospital is.
‘Future Fit’ is the decision-making process involving health bosses reviewing hospital services in Telford and Wrekin and Shropshire. After three years and £3m they recommend closing Telford’s two year old £28m Women and Children’s Centre and its A&E department and moving them to Shrewsbury. It’s a recommendation that Telford & Wrekin Council says makes no sense on clinical and financial grounds and it has raised concerns about the way the process is being handled.
Since its launch, the campaign has gathered support from residents and businesses and kept them informed on developments.
Telford & Wrekin Council Leader Shaun Davies said: “Thank you to everyone who has pledged their support. Many hundreds have written stories of glowing praise for the care they have received, particularly at the Women and Children’s Centre. The support has come NOT just from within this borough – it has come from many other areas of the county too.
“This campaign was launched to ensure that health bosses are left in no doubt about the strength of feeling for the Princess Royal Hospital.
“We have long said the proposals make no sense. Now there are more than 17,000 people joining us saying the same.”
