Motorcyclist dies following collision on A5

The collision involving a silver Renault Megane and a blue Suzuki motorcycle happened on the A5, between Weston-under-Lizard and Crackleybank and near to the junction with the A41, shortly after 5.20pm.

Both vehicles are believed to have been travelling in the direction of Weston-under-Lizard.

The 24-year-old motorcyclist from the Norton Canes area was pronounced dead at the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival at the scene, crews discovered the motorcyclist, a man, in cardiac arrest.

“Ambulance staff immediately began administering CPR and advanced life support.

“However, unfortunately it became apparent that nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

“The driver of the car was uninjured in the incident.”

Officers from the Collision Investigation Unit at Staffordshire Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision itself or anyone who may have seen the vehicles beforehand to contact them on 101 quoting incident number 544 of 1 May.
