Police in Telford are urging residents in the Ketley Bank area to be vigilant against thieves following a series of burglaries.

Police issue crime prevention advice following series of burglaries

It comes after five burglaries were reported in the area in recent weeks with items stolen including: sat navs, phones, cameras, jewellery, and clothing.

The number of burglaries can be reduced by taking simple security measures and removing some of the opportunities that present themselves as easy targets.

With the weather also improving, police are keen to remind people of the steps they can take to keep their homes secure and ensure they do not become victims.

These include:
- Not leaving doors open or unlocked while working in the garden or leaving doors unlocked while sat watching television

- Not leaving windows open in areas that are accessible to a thief, such as a flat roof or rear window next to garden furniture that can be used as a climbing aid

- Locking up last thing at night assuming that someone in the house has already done it

- Avoid leaving the door unlocked if you pop to visit a friend or neighbour

Anyone who witnesses people acting suspiciously or has information is asked to call Telford proactive CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
