Casualty airlifted to hospital following collision on Buildwas Bank

The crash happened on the B4380 Buildwas Road around 12.05pm.

A red Toyota Yaris was at the junction with the A4169 and a black BMW 1 series was travelling from the A4169 onto the B4380 Buildwas Road when the two vehicles collided.

The driver of the Toyota Yaris - a woman in her 60s - suffered a broken femur and was taken to hospital while the driver of the BMW sustained neck injuries.

Four fire appliances including the Rescue Tender were mobilised from Much Wenlock, Telford Central and Wellington. An Operations officer was also in attendance.

Crews used Holmatro cutting equipment to release the casualty.

Enquiries are currently ongoing but police would like to speak with any witnesses to the incident or people who saw the vehicles and the manner in which they were being driven prior to the collision.

Anyone with information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident number 353S of 17 September.

The road was closed in both directions following the collision.
