One cut free following early morning collision near Oswestry

The collision involved a black Ford Fiesta on the Tref Ar Clawdd road near Stone House at around 4am on Sunday 4 March.

The vehicle was heading from Oswestry to Treflach, when it is believed to have left the carriageway, collided with a gate, and overturned.

The 19 year-old driver of the Zetec was taken to hospital with serious head injuries while the passenger, a 20 year-old male, received treatment for minor injuries also in hospital.

Firefighters used Holmatro equipment to release the trapped casualty.

Three fire appliances including the rescue tender were mobilised from Oswestry and Wellington with an operations officer.

Enquiries are currently ongoing but police would like to speak with any witnesses to the incident or people who saw the vehicle and the manner in which it was being driven prior to the collision.

Anyone with information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident number 111S of 4 March.
