Army to carry out controlled explosion at Oswestry building site

Yesterday afternoon police were informed that the old shells had been found on the building site in Park Hall.

The Army was informed and Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD), police, fire and the local authority are working together to ensure the shells are disposed of safely.

A controlled explosion took place this morning with further controlled explosions due to take place this afternoon.

Local residents have not been evacuated but have been advised to remain at the back of their properties and away from windows.

West Mercia Police say its purely a precaution and based on advice from the army who are well equipped at dealing with such incidents.
