An inquest has concluded that a Liverpool woman died as a direct result of contracting Legionnaire's disease following a stay at The Feathers Hotel in Ludlow.

Inquest concludes woman died after contracting Legionnaire's disease at Ludlow hotel

Elaine Brown passed away aged 69 at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital on August 26 after suffering a stroke as a result of Legionnaires’ disease, which emerged just days after she stayed at the hotel with her husband Graham on July 31 as part of a coach tour excursion.

The Jury at the inquest held at Shirehall in Shrewsbury took less than half an hour to decide that Mrs Brown contracted legionella pneumonia during her stay at the Feathers Hotel and that the infection contributed to a stroke that killed her the following month.

Another guest who had stayed at the hotel also contracted the disease and recovered.
