Two men receive Football Banning Orders following disorder at Shrewsbury v Wolves Cup tie

The disorder happened during and after the match at the Montgomery Waters Meadow Stadium in Shrewsbury on Saturday 26 January.

Yesterday the men were banned from attending football matches for the duration of the orders.

Martin Fletcher, 25 of Duddlestone, was given a order after he pleaded guilty to section four public order. He was also given a conditional discharge and ordered to pay costs and a victim surcharge.

Shaun Peach, 30 of Shrewsbury, was already subject to a banning order and was given an additional order after he pleaded guilty to breaching it. He was also given an conditional discharge and ordered to pay costs and a victim surcharge.

The orders follow a previous football banning order given to Shane Owen, 26, of Shrewsbury after he pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly on Friday 22 February.

Shropshire local policing commander, Superintendent Mo Lansdale, said: "There is simply no place for violent disorder at football matches and we will always look to get those involved banned from attending football matches for a significant amount of time.

"We know the majority of fans are well behaved and are good natured in their celebrations and commiserations but for the minority who cause trouble we will not hesitate to take action."

Enquiries into the disorder are continuing, anyone who has information about those involved should contact West Mercia Police on 101 quoting reference 50s 260119 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
