National Grid will be carrying out cable reinforcement work on Mytton Oak Road, Shrewsbury from today until 22 September.

National Grid to begin cable reinforcement work on Mytton Oak Road in Shrewsbury

During the works contractors working on behalf of National Grid will undertake excavations within the footpath outside of the substation located opposite Montague Walk.

Work will then progress along Mytton Oak Road and eventually stop at the junction with Swiss Farm Road.

For safety purposes temporary traffic lights will be required, with a traffic management operative on site from 7.30am to 6.30pm to monitor and react to any traffic delays by adjusting the timings on the signals.

When possible, the temporary traffic lights will be removed outside of the working hours and over the weekends to help minimise the disruption.

The scheme is part of an ongoing project where National Grid are investing £230,000 into their electricity distribution network to support local net zero goals and accommodate increased demand in the west side of Shrewsbury.

National Grid are increasing the capacity of their network by upgrading 1.75km of high voltage cable.

Shropshire Council’s inspection team will monitor the work as it progresses to ensure the contractors are working efficiently and to the agreed timescales.
