Lotus cars of all shapes and sizes will take to the track at Loton Park Hill Climb near Shrewsbury, this coming weekend (3rd/4th AUG) when Shropshire’s premier motorsport venue hosts a weekend of interclub action.

Lots of Lotus for Loton Park this weekend

The Paul Matty Sportscars Championship has been a long running series for all models of Lotus sports and racing cars from the iconic British manufacturer, each competing against the clock, with over 30 examples in action on both days.

Seasoned driver and award winner Adrian Read will be competing in his immaculate Lotus 61 racing car and commented: “This is a very tight and demanding parkland course so the competition will be very close as we compete against each other on a specific handicap basis which gives every driver a real chance of success.”

Guests for the weekend are members of the National Historic Speed Championship and this class will see stiff competition between former family favourites such as an Austin Allegro, Morris Mini Cooper, Volvo Amazon and Triumph Vitesse.

Also in attendance will be members of the Jaguar Drivers Club with two E-Types together with a GT4 and Vantage models from Aston Martin.

The weekend also sees a large entry from members of event hosts Hagley Car Club in a wide variety of road-legal and modified machines including Zoe Shearman in her striking Lotus Exige and former class winner Michael Thomson making a return in his Honda S2000 sports car, while Simon Hutchinson in his well-sorted BMW M2 Competition will be the man to beat in the Over 2litre class.

The action starts at 9am each day with cars taking to the hill in program order, full facilities are on site and further details can be found at hdlcc.com.
