A Whitchurch charity shop that helps people with brain injuries urgently needs volunteers to continue its vital work and reach its first million.

Whitchurch brain injury charity shop on track to make a million urgently needs volunteers

The Headway Whitchurch charity shop raises funds to support  Headway – the brain injury association. The UK-wide charity works to improve life after brain injury by providing vital support, advocacy, and information services to brain injury survivors and their families.

The shop's new Store Manager, Maddie Stafford, said that more volunteers are urgently needed for the shop to continue its success.

Maddie said, "The shop is very busy, and this is a really exciting time to join us. We are on track to raise our first million by the end of this year, so we urgently need more kind people to join our much-valued team.

"We particularly need people who can volunteer for a few hours on weekends, but we have spaces during the week, so we can always find room to welcome willing volunteers.

"We are a very supportive and friendly team. Volunteering with us is a chance to meet new people and learn new skills while helping people rebuild their lives after brain injury. We've had people volunteer with us who were unemployed and, through their time with us, they have gone on to find paid employment. We'd also be happy to support young people looking to volunteer as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award. No experience is necessary, and we would be pleased to give volunteers training and support.”

Every year, around 350,000 people are admitted to hospital with a brain injury. That's one every 90 seconds. Brain injuries can be sustained in several ways, including through strokes, brain tumours, and accidents.

Maddie added: "The money raised from sales in our charity shops goes a long way towards ensuring vital support is there for those affected by brain injury.

"Please join us at our Whitchurch charity shop and become an important part of helping Headway to improve life after brain injury."

To find out more about volunteering at the Headway Whitchurch charity shop, please call Maddie on 01948 665 334 or visit the shop at 4 High Street, Whitchurch.
