Storm Darragh brings flooding, damage and power outages to Shropshire
Storm Darragh has led to flood warnings and alerts being put in place across Shropshire, whilst properties have been damaged and power outages reported.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service yesterday said they were receiving a higher than normal demand for services due to the severe weather conditions.
Incidents the services has attended include:
Trees falling onto power cables and cars, including a tree that fell onto a power cable and vehicle on the A49 at Lee Brockhurst causing a fire.
At Quina Brook near Wem a tree fell onto car with two people trapped within the vehicle. Electrical cables were also affected during this incident. Crews used a battery saw and small gear to release casualties from the vehicle.
In Church Stretton a tree fell onto a property also bringing down a power cable.
At the Red Lion Inn on Great Hales Street in Market Drayton roof rafters ended up in a dangerous position. Fire crews removed the roof structure from scaffolding and made the area safe.
Telford & Wrekin Council sees high demand for assistance
With the storm bringing down trees, blocking roads, and damaging electricity cables and buildings, as well as surface flooding. Telford & Wrekin Council says that more than 200 calls were made to its call centre, and as a result, they were inundated with requests for assistance.
Councillor Richard Overton, (Lab) Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Highways, Housing & Enforcement at Telford & Wrekin Council said: “We want to express our thanks to all those who have reported incidents and assisted in identifying areas that require immediate action.”
“This has been a true community effort, and I’d also like to thank our crews and our emergency service colleagues, for working together and mitigating the damage caused by the storm.”
“Our teams are doing their very best to get through all logged calls as quickly as possible.
“We ask for your patience as we process all the incidents, if you have logged a call, please know that it is being dealt with, and we appreciate your understanding. For dangerous situations or immediate risk to life, please contact the out-of-hours number immediately.”
The council's teams are dealing with 87 fallen trees currently reported but the team estimates more with calls still coming in this morning. Crews have been working through the night, prioritising emergency callouts to make areas safe. Once all emergency calls have been attended, the process to remove the debris will then begin in order of severity.
