Shrewsbury man sentenced to 32 years after being found guilty of sexual offences against children
A Shrewsbury man has been sentenced to 32 years after he was found guilty of over 20 sexual offences against children.

Michael Scrase, of Burnell Way in Shrewsbury, was found guilty of 21 offences, including 14 counts of rape, five counts of sexual assault by penetration and two counts of child abuse.
During the two-week trial, which took place in September 2024, the court heard how the 45-year-old carried out the offences some time between 2014 and 2021.
Scrase was sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Friday 13 December, where he was given 32 years, comprising of 28 years custodial and four years to then be spent on license.
Detective Constable Julia Warren, who led the investigation, said: “Scrase is a highly dangerous individual who preyed on young vulnerable girls.
“We welcome the sentence given to Scrase by the judge, but no sentence can ever take away the lifelong trauma he caused his victims.
“I would like to commend his victims for coming forward and reporting these crimes, as it takes a lot of courage and strength, and I would like to thank them for their bravery throughout the investigation and trial.”
