Public Consultation Open for Shrewsbury West Sustainable Urban Extension

Cornovii Homes is inviting the local community to provide feedback and learn more about plans for Shrewsbury West Sustainable Urban Extension (SUE).

The proposed development, comprising up to 283 homes, is designed to deliver high-quality, sustainable housing and foster a vibrant new community. A public consultation on the plans is open and will run until 14th February.

The Shrewsbury West SUE has been designed to deliver benefits for residents, the wider community, and the environment. The homes will incorporate energy-efficient designs to lower emissions and reduce utility costs, making them sustainable and affordable to maintain.

Connectivity is a priority, with pedestrian and cycle pathways integrated to encourage active travel and healthier lifestyles.

The proposed plans include a mix of one- to four-bedroom homes, offering both apartments and houses. A substantial proportion of the properties will be affordable, with a range of tenure options to support diverse housing needs and first-time buyers in the region.

The development will preserve mature trees and provide public open spaces, ensuring that natural beauty is retained while creating spaces for relaxation and community activities. It will contribute to Shrewsbury’s economic growth by generating funds for local infrastructure improvements, supporting the town’s development and growth.

Cornovii Homes says it is committed to putting the community at the heart of this development. Residents are encouraged to participate in the consultation by sharing their ideas and feedback.

Comments can be submitted through the following channels:

Online at shrewsburywesturbanextension.co.uk via email shrewsburywesturbanextension@havingyoursay.co.uk or by calling 0333 358 0502 to speak with a team member (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.30pm)

A spokesperson for Cornovii Homes, Shropshire Council’s wholly owned housing company, said:

“We are thrilled to share our vision for the Shrewsbury West Sustainable Urban Extension and are eager to hear the community’s views. This development is designed to address the critical housing needs in Shropshire, providing a diverse range of homes, including affordable options, to ensure accessibility for families, first-time buyers, and individuals at every stage of life.

“The integration of green spaces, walking and cycling routes, and community areas is central to our plans. We aim to create a development that enhances the quality of life for residents, encouraging healthier lifestyles and fostering a strong sense of belonging.

“We want this development to reflect the aspirations of the people who will live here and those in the wider Shrewsbury community. By engaging with local residents, we hope to create a shared vision that delivers real, lasting benefits for everyone involved. We encourage all members of the community to share their thoughts and help us shape the future of this exciting project.”
