Local adventurer takes on Fat Viking cycle challenge in aid of Severn Hospice
A Telford man is gearing up for a unique and challenging adventure whilst raising money for Severn Hospice.

Phil Humphreys will be taking part in the Fat Viking, a 150km cycle race on fat bikes along snow-covered tracks in Norway. With temperatures dipping as low as -30 degrees Celsius and only two checkpoints on the route, the race promises to be a gruelling test of both physical and mental fortitude.
Phil is no stranger to adventure, but he admits this will be unlike anything he's attempted before.
This endeavour holds a special significance for Phil as he participates in raising money for Severn Hospice, an organization that provided invaluable care for his wife, Mel, during her battle with cancer.
"Sadly, Mel passed away a year ago at the age of 59," he shares. "This race is my way of giving back to the hospice for the incredible support they provided us."
Phil is a resident of Apley, Telford, and a former teacher who has embraced early retirement. He actively volunteers for the Wellington Cycle Delivery Scheme, demonstrating his commitment to the local community.
Phil has already gained over £1,600 in support on his Just Giving page, launched just a few days ago, and hopes to surpass this amount for Severn Hospice
