New arts project celebrating memories of The Wrekin unveiled
A new art project celebrating people’s memories of The Wrekin has been unveiled.

The ‘Community Voices’ initiative was led by Wellington collage artist Caris Jackson at the Halfway House, the historic café on Shropshire’s famous landmark.
She was invited to create a large artistic display for the building, which was bought by charity Yellow Ribbon last year, and she involved a range of local people.
“Shropshire people came to The Halfway House to share their memories and help create the display,” she explained.
“Members of the community were encouraged to bring images and objects to tell individual stories about what The Wrekin meant to them personally.
“I then used these snippets to produce a unique community showcase.”
The artwork was unveiled by Mayor of Telford Ian Preece and Councillor Paul Davis from Telford and Wrekin Council and Wellington Town Council.
