Shaun Davies MP pushes for new Armed Forces Hub in Telford
Telford & Wrekin Council has unveiled plans for a new Armed Forces Hub, designed to serve as a one-stop shop for Armed Forces personnel and their families to access vital support services.

Shaun Davies, MP for Telford, is pushing for the hub to be located in Telford, a community home to over 4,000 veteran households—well above the West Midlands average.
Shaun has shared his support for the initiative, informed by direct conversations with local veterans and feedback gathered through his recent Veteran survey.
Shaun commented: "This new hub would be a game-changer for Armed Forces families in Telford. It's crucial we recognise their contributions and provide the support they deserve. I’ve urged the council to prioritise Telford as the location for this important facility. Telford has a proud tradition of supporting our Armed Forces community. By working together, we can ensure this hub becomes a reality and provide the resources our veterans and their families need to thrive.”
The proposed hub aligns with broader national initiatives aimed at increasing support for the UK Armed Forces after 14 years of Tory hollowing out and underfunding. This includes:
- The country’s first ever independent Armed Forces Commissioner
- A 6% pay rise for Armed Forces personnel
- The rollout of electronic Veterans ID Cards
- A £3.5 million boost to the Veterans Homelessness Programme
- Introduction of an LGBT veterans financial recognition scheme
- Expansion of the Homes for Heroes program
However, Shaun added that more needs to be done including mental health support, access to justice, and assistance for children and young people from Armed Forces families.
The council is currently seeking public input on the location of the new hub. Shaun is encouraging constituents to make their voices heard through the council’s consultation process or to contact him directly to share their support of a Telford based hub.
