Shrewsbury's railway station crying out for investment, says MP
Shrewsbury’s grade II listed railway station is crying out for investment, says the town’s MP Julia Buckley.

“I’ve just had a tour of the building and I saw a side of the station many of us haven’t seen before,” she said.
“Away from the ticket offices and platforms I saw this amazing, spacious interior, beautifully decorated ceilings and spaces crying out for further investment. We could make so much more of this stunning building.”
The MP added: “This is such a prime location in the heart of the town. I would love to see these spaces used again. This lovely station was built in 1848 in the gothic style to complement the architecture of the nearby Shrewsbury Library, formerly Shrewsbury School. It’s a real gem.
“I am aware that Network Rail and their partners currently have local offices in the building but I am hopeful they may consider sharing this beautiful space with other uses so more of our residents and visitors can enjoy the space too.
"I’m looking forward to meeting with Network Rail bosses next month to discuss these ideas.”
