Woman airlifted in 'critical condition' after collision in Shrewsbury

A woman has been airlifted to hospital in a critical condition following a serious collision between a Heavy Goods Vehicle and a car in Shrewsbury this morning, Friday 5 December.

The collision took place on Oteley Road at approximately 10.30 am, emergency services, including paramedics, police officers, and firefighters, swiftly attended the scene.

A spokeswoman for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "Upon arrival, crews discovered the driver of the car, a woman, in a critical condition and immediately began administering advanced life support.

"Due to the severity of her injuries, the woman was subsequently conveyed by air ambulance to the Royal Stoke University Hospital for specialist trauma care."

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service sent three fire appliances, including the Rescue Tender from Shrewsbury, Telford Central and Wellington. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Police have asked for any witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to contact them as part of their investigation into the cause of the incident.
