Shropshire Cat Rescue in final fundraising push for new roof
Shropshire Cat Rescue is urgently appealing for the public's help to raise the final 25% of funds needed to replace a desperately damaged roof, crucial for the care of hundreds of vulnerable felines.

Shropshire Cat Rescue, a lifeline for hundreds of cats across the county each year, has launched a final rallying cry to reach its £22,000 fundraising goal for a vital roof replacement. Having already reached an impressive 75% of the target, the charity is now calling on the kindness of local residents and animal lovers to help them secure the last crucial pennies.
The roof on one of their essential buildings has sustained damage and needs immediate, specialist attention before the issue worsens and the building becomes unusable. With the shelter constantly operating at full capacity, losing access to any building would severely impact the charity's ability to care for cats in need.
Hayley Abbott, Volunteer at Shropshire Cat Rescue, said: "We are three quarters of the way there and are calling on the kindness of the public to help us hit 100%. The building is old, and the roof requires specialist attention, which is why we need to raise £22,000. We really can’t do without this building and need to fix it now before it gets worse."
A Lifeline for Felines
The self-funded charity plays a critical role in the community, providing extensive support to local cats. Their work ranges from:
- Rehoming: Finding loving, 'forever homes' for cats and kittens.
- Feral Care: Looking after and managing local feral cat colonies.
- Retirement Village: Offering a life of luxury and comfort for their more mature residents.
Crucially, Shropshire Cat Rescue is entirely reliant on the generosity of donations and public support to continue their vital services.
"Donations and public support are absolutely vital for us," Hayley added. "We care for hundreds of cats each year, and every pound makes a huge difference to their welfare."
