Shropshire man sentenced for breaching Criminal Behaviour Order

A man has been given a 12-week custodial sentence by the courts for breaching his Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).
Iran Lane, of Shrewsbury, was given the sentence at Telford Magistrates Court on Friday, 23 January, after pleading guilty to two breaches of his CBO.
The 30-year-old was given a three-year CBO back in June 2025 after he broke into broke into the BP Garage on Beatrice Street and stole vapes from the shop.
The order means that Lane cannot be drunk in a public place in Oswestry or enter the petrol station, or the station’s forecourt, for the next three years.
However, on 15 January, Lane was found to have breached his CBO, where he was arrested and later charged.
On Friday he was sentenced to 12 weeks in jail, and a new condition was added to his CBO meaning he cannot enter any public house and licensed nightclubs within Oswestry.
A CBO is a civil order designed to tackle the most serious and persistent anti-social individuals. The powers to issue a CBO are contained in the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, where behaviour has found to have caused alarm, distress or harassment.
Sergeant Stuart Leclere, from Oswestry’s Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "I hope this sends a message to anyone intent on causing disorder or committing crime in Oswestry that we remain committed to ensuring that those who are responsible are dealt with.
“I am glad that the court has issued Lane with a 12-week custodial sentence, as well as extending his CBO conditions, which I hope will curb his behaviour, and help protect the people in the town."
The CBO will be in place until June 2028.
