Two cut free after vehicle ends up on its side in Wem
Emergency services were called to the B5065 in Wem yesterday evening following a collision that left two people trapped inside a vehicle.

The incident, which occurred at approximately 7 pm on Tuesday, 27 January, triggered a multi-agency response. Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) dispatched two fire appliances from the Prees and Wem stations, supported by a specialist operations officer who oversaw the extraction.
Upon arrival, crews discovered a single vehicle had left the road and come to rest on its side. Two occupants were found trapped within the veicle, unable to self-extricate due to the position of the car and the damage sustained.
Firefighters worked alongside colleagues from the West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Mercia Police to secure the scene and begin the delicate process of releasing the casualties.
Crews utilised specialised Holmatro cutting and spreading equipment, as well as hydraulic door openers, to create a safe exit point for the trapped pair. The rescue operation was carried out with precision, ensuring the stability of the vehicle throughout the process.
By 7.23 pm, both individuals had been successfully extricated from the vehicle and handed over to the care of paramedics for assessment.
The scene was subsequently left in the hands of the police to manage vehicle recovery and investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area during the evening as the B5065 remained partially obstructed while the site was cleared.
