Valentine’s campaign puts Wellington’s local businesses in the spotlight

Wellington is embracing the Valentine’s spirit with a town-wide initiative encouraging residents to show their love for local businesses.

Valentine’s campaign puts Wellington’s local businesses in the spotlight

Running until Saturday 14 February, the campaign aims to celebrate the traders who help make Wellington’s high street thrive.

Businesses across the town are taking part in the scheme, which invites customers to share their appreciation for their favourite local shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants.

Jenna Humphreys from Love Wellington said the Valentine’s promotion is designed to bring people into town while also giving local businesses a boost through positive social media exposure.

She explained “Customers are being encouraged to take a photo of themselves at their favourite Wellington business while holding a Love Wellington Valentine’s card. They can then send the photo to us along with a few words explaining why they value the service they receive from that business.

“We’re really looking forward to seeing lots of photos and kind comments about the wonderful independent businesses we have here. It’s been lovely to see so many traders keen to get involved.”

Everyone who takes part will be entered into a prize draw to win a £50 voucher for a romantic meal for two, in true Valentine’s style. The winner will be able to choose between The Wickets Inn, offering great quality home-cooked food, or The Park, which offers pizzas and has recently partnered with Adam Purnell – The Shropshire Lad – to offer an Emburgers menu every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The voucher must be used within six months.

A second winner will also be selected to receive a £20 gift voucher to use at AJ’s Kitchen, located in an out-building of Wellington Market.

Lance and Debbie Pettet, owners of The Wickets Inn, said they were delighted to be supporting the promotion once again.

Lance said, “We’re really pleased to be taking part in the Valentine’s promotion this year. Having joined in before, we know what a fun and engaging way it is for customers to show their support, and it’s genuinely lovely to be on the receiving end of that appreciation as a Wellington business owner.

“It’s also a great opportunity for customers to win a meal for two simply by taking a photo and showing their support. This interaction from customers really means a lot to Wellington businesses. We're proud to be contributing a prize that celebrates our local businesses, and it’s lovely that the winner will have a choice of venues.”

The campaign highlights the strong relationship between Wellington’s traders and the local community, encouraging residents to shop local and celebrate the businesses that make the town special.
