Shrewsbury MP seeks public support for direct trains to London
An appeal for signatures of support has been launched to help secure a new direct rail service linking Shropshire and London.

It is estimated the new service could boost the local economy by up to £8 million.
“This new train service will help create and greatly improve access to employment, business, learning, medical services and leisure opportunities,” says Shrewsbury MP Julia Buckley.
“As you know, I have been working with Alstom, the rail industry solutions company, to support their renewed bid for the Wrexham, Shropshire & Midlands Railway ‘open access’ application which would re-connect Shrewsbury to the capital city.
“The service would be a huge boost for six towns currently not served with a direct line to London, as well as providing crucial regional links between all our hospitals and local communities along the line.”
“We need as much public support as possible to help make this exciting plan a reality.” said Mrs Buckley – the founder of the Shrewsbury Transport Integration Group which seeks to improve rail and bus services, and enhance connectivity.
The MP added: “Please sign my petition as I call on the Government to back our plans. Let’s show the level of support for the project by signing and sharing the petition to all our neighbours far and wide: from Wales to the Midlands and beyond.
“The petition will be available in Shrewsbury Library and in shops and offices around the town, as well as online. Thank you for your help, as we leave no stone unturned in the campaign to reconnect our town.” The petition is available at: www.change.org/wrexhamshropsmidsrailway
