Investigation ongoing following security scare in Saxon Court, Leegomery

Residents were forced to evacuate their homes in the Leegomery area of Telford yesterday evening after a suspected explosive device sparked a major security alert in Saxon Court.
The drama began when police officers attending an address discovered what they believed to be a dangerous item. To ensure public safety, a strict 100-metre cordon was immediately established, and surrounding properties were evacuated.
The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team was scrambled to the scene, arriving at approximately 9.30 pm to conduct a forensic assessment of the items. While the experts worked, displaced neighbours were left to wait as police cordoned off the immediate area, advising the public to steer clear of the site.
Local officers remained on the ground throughout the evening, providing updates to the impacted families.
Fortunately, the incident reached a peaceful conclusion. Following a thorough examination by the EOD team, the items were confirmed to be not explosive.
The cordon was officially lifted around midnight, allowing relieved residents to return to their beds.
Police have maintained a presence at the Saxon Court property to facilitate further enquiries. The force has not yet released details regarding the nature of the "suspicious devices" or whether any arrests have been made in connection with the find.
Residents in the area can expect to see a continued police presence as the investigation continues.
