Shropshire Arts Group set for international spotlight at Oska Bright Film Festival
A local arts collective is heading to the coast this spring as their latest cinematic venture prepares to compete on the international stage.

Arty Party, a Shropshire-based group dedicated to artists with learning disabilities, has seen its new short film, Our Circle in the Storm, shortlisted for a prestigious award at the Oska Bright Film Festival.
The film, a poignant filmed dance performance, tackles the pressing global issue of environmental displacement. It follows a group of climate refugees—the majority of whom are disabled—as they seek sanctuary and attempt to build a new life within the walls of an abandoned house.
This is far from Arty Party’s first brush with success at the festival. The group previously secured the Outstanding Contribution to Cinema Award in 2019, cementing their reputation as a powerhouse of inclusive filmmaking.
Director Ray Jacobs, along with lead actors Eve Washington and Georgie Dawson, are expected to represent the project as it goes head-to-head with some of the best international talent in the industry.
The festival is managed by Carousel, a disability-led charity and Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation, with additional support from the BFI.
Supporters and film enthusiasts can catch a glimpse of the Shropshire entry online ahead of its festival screening.
