Broseley residents invited to shape town’s future

Broseley Town Council has launched a comprehensive Development Strategy Survey, marking a significant shift in how local decisions will be made. Residents are being encouraged to share their views to help steer the town’s long-term objectives and provide a framework for future budget allocations.
The initiative comes at a pivotal moment for the area as the broader council landscape undergoes a period of transformation. Under new leadership, Shropshire Council is looking to devolve increased responsibility to town and parish councils, with Broseley chosen to serve as a pilot scheme for these innovative ways of working. This trial position gives the town a unique opportunity to lead the way in local governance and community-led decision-making.
A primary focus of the survey involves the ongoing review of the Neighbourhood Development Plan. This critical document outlines how Broseley intends to meet development targets established by both Shropshire Council and central government.
By participating in the review, the town council aims to maintain a higher degree of local control over the specific type and scale of new developments, ensuring they align with the needs and character of the community.
The council has emphasised that this is an opportunity for every resident to have a direct impact on the town's trajectory. Beyond the structured survey questions, the public is invited to provide more detailed feedback. This can be done in person through discussions with local councillors or by visiting the council offices located at The Library Building on Bridgnorth Road.
For those unable to attend in person, the council remains accessible through several channels. Inquiries and feedback can be directed via telephone on 01952 882172 during standard weekday hours, or submitted electronically to the council’s administration email address.
As Broseley embarks on this pilot phase, the council says it remains committed to the principle that local views are the most vital component in building a sustainable strategy for the town.
