Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died in hospital following a collision involving a single vehicle near Telford on Easter Sunday.

Police appeal for witnesses after man dies following collision near Longdon-on-Tern

The incident occurred at approximately 2.45 pm on the B5063, between Shawbirch and Longdon-on-Tern.

A Ford Fiesta was the only vehicle involved in the crash. Emergency services attended the scene and the driver, an 86-year-old man, was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Officers have confirmed that the man died as a result of his injuries the following day.

Investigators from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are now seeking to speak with anyone who was travelling in the area at the time. They are particularly interested in reviewing any dash cam footage that may have captured the vehicle's movements prior to the incident or the collision itself.

A specific appeal has been launched to identify a man and a woman who were travelling in a dark-coloured saloon, possibly an Audi. This pair were the first individuals to arrive at the scene following the crash and may hold vital information regarding the circumstances of the collision.

Police have stressed that these individuals are not in any trouble and are being sought purely as key witnesses who could assist the investigation.

Anyone who can identify the couple in the saloon car, or who has any relevant information, is urged to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit directly. Members of the public can reach the team by emailing SCIUNorth@westmercia.police.uk or by calling 01952 214621.
