Wellington town council welcomes new Town Clerk

Wellington Town Council has confirmed a change at the helm as Chief Executive Officer Karen Roper is set to retire, with local resident Alison Hinks named as the town’s new Clerk.
Karen Roper joined Wellington Town Council in mid-April 2015 and has spent the last eleven years providing dedicated service to the town. Her tenure has been marked by a steadfast commitment to the community, overseeing numerous local improvements and providing vital stability to the council’s operations.
"In her 11 years of dedicated service to Wellington, Karen has always shown leadership, guidance, and support, and we thank her for everything she has done for the team and town," said Cllr Paul Davis for Wellington Town Council. "She will be very much missed, but we’re excited for this next chapter for her."
Stepping into the role of Town Clerk is Alison Hinks, a familiar face to many in Wellington. Alison grew up in Arleston and attended Barn Farm, Ercall Junior, and Ercall Wood schools. She brings eighteen years of extensive experience in local government, having begun her career at Rodington Parish Council before progressing to roles at Ketley Parish Council and later as Town Clerk in Oakengates and Madeley.
Returning to her roots, Alison expressed her enthusiasm for serving her hometown during this period of growth. "I live in Wellington and I am proud of the area I live in and grew up in," Alison stated. "I really want to work within my local community. I enjoy working with residents, offering support and guidance, and I am excited about the changes and improvements taking place in Wellington and want to be part of these exciting next steps."
The Council invites residents to join them in wishing Karen a long and happy retirement and offering a warm welcome to Alison as she begins her new role.
Mayor of Wellington Reg Snell said, "During my Mayoral year, I have been fortunate to have the excellent support and guidance of Karen. She has assisted me in my role. If I am deemed to have carried out my duties successfully, it would not have happened without Karen and her team. I wish her a long and happy retirement."
