Police crack down on youth disorder with 48-hour dispersal order in Oakengates
A crackdown on antisocial behaviour by youths has been launched in Oakengates this week with a 48-hour dispersal order across the Telford town following a spike in police reports.

The emergency measures were triggered after officers were called to attend multiple incidents throughout Monday, 7 April, and Tuesday, 8 April. Reports described various groups of young people causing significant public nuisance and engaging in anti-social activities.
In a direct attempt to quell the issue, West Mercia Police confirmed the order came into effect at 7.30 pm on Wednesday evening and will remain in force until the same time on Friday, 10 April.
Under the terms of the dispersal order, police officers have been granted enhanced legal powers to deal with individuals as young as ten years old. Anyone found to be contributing to anti-social behaviour can be formally excluded from the designated area for the duration of the order. Failure to comply with an instruction to leave the zone can lead to further police action, including arrest.
To ensure the order is strictly enforced, the public can expect to see a significantly higher police presence on the ground today. High-visibility patrols have been increased throughout the town centre and known hotspots to deter potential troublemakers and provide reassurance to the local community.
Officers have stressed that they will not hesitate to utilise these temporary powers if they encounter individuals causing further distress to the public.
Local residents are being urged to play an active role in restoring order by reporting any suspicious or disruptive activity they witness. Police representatives have encouraged neighbours to approach patrolling officers directly or to make contact via official channels if they have specific concerns regarding anti-social behaviour in the area.
It's hoped that this swift, concentrated intervention will serve as a firm reminder that such disorder will not be tolerated in the community.
