Aspiring Telford scientists win prestigious prize

A group of young aspiring scientists from StemLearn Telford Club have achieved an incredible milestone, winning the prestigious Frontier Ingenuity/Innovation Prize at the Robocon competition organised by Hills Road Sixth Form College in Cambridge.
The award, sponsored by Frontier, recognises outstanding creativity in both technical and logical design. StemLearn’s robot stood out among competitors, capturing the attention of judges and spectators alike with its originality and precision.
What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that, for every student involved, this was their very first robotics competition. Despite their newcomer status, the team demonstrated exceptional skill, teamwork, and confidence under pressure.
A remarkable piece of engineering by school students, the robot showcased creativity, precision, and exceptional teamwork throughout the competition.
Their robot was widely praised for its innovative features. Judges specifically highlighted the team’s idea of stacking the boxes as unique and not seen before in the competition. The robot’s expressive eye design and smooth, controlled movement were also standout elements, an impressive blend of imagination and engineering. The project showcased not only technical ability but also creativity and collaboration, highlighting the potential of young minds when given the opportunity to explore STEM subjects.
This achievement was made possible with the invaluable guidance and dedicated support of mentors Nishat Akhter, Abdullatif Salah, and Imran Jafri.
StemLearn is a local club, a subsidiary of AI Labs, founded with the vision of promoting STEM education among school students. The club focuses on developing skills in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), robotics, innovation, patents, and entrepreneurship. AI Labs, in parallel, works with university students and professionals in the field of research and development to further advance technical knowledge and real-world skills.
This fantastic achievement is just the beginning for these talented students, who have already proven they can compete and win on a big stage.
