Ice hockey legends return to the ice as Telford Tigers celebrate 40 years of history

Taking place on Saturday 25th April, the fixture brings together former players, fan favourites, and key figures from across four decades of Tigers hockey for a night of nostalgia, entertainment, and celebration.

Inspired by the region’s rich heritage, the two teams reflect the identity of Shropshire. The Wrekin Giants draw on the legendary folklore of The Wrekin, symbolising strength and character, while Ironbridge Ice represents the historic Ironbridge Gorge; widely recognised as the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution.

Leading the sides will be two familiar Telford names, with Jason Silverthorn captaining the Wrekin Giants and Scott McKenzie leading Ironbridge Ice.

The game promises a unique blend of competitive spirit and celebration, as supporters get the chance to see some of the club’s most recognisable names return to the ice in front of what is expected to be a packed home crowd.

Off the ice, fans can also be part of the occasion through the official jersey auction, featuring game-worn, retro-inspired designs from both teams. Bidding will close at 6 pm on Friday evening, giving supporters a final opportunity to secure a unique piece of Tigers history ahead of game night.

Head Coach and General Manager Tom Watkins said:

"This is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the history of the club and recognise the people who have helped build it into what it is today. There are so many great memories associated with Telford Tigers, and it will be special to see those players back on the ice in front of our fans."

With demand continuing to rise, tickets are now limited, with balcony seating heading towards a sell-out. Supporters are strongly encouraged to secure their seats as soon as possible to avoid missing out on what promises to be a landmark evening.
