Residents in areas of Telford and Bridgnorth suffer water supply issues

Households in two parts of Shropshire are facing a disruption today after failures on two pumps left taps dry and water supplies discoloured.

Residents in areas of Telford and Bridgnorth suffer water supply issues

The issues are primarily affecting residents in the TF6 postcode area of Telford and the WV15 area of Bridgnorth. Reports began surfacing early this morning from customers experiencing a total loss of supply, while others have noted a significant drop in water pressure or an unusual tint to their household water.

Severn Trent Water confirmed that the outages were caused by a failure in the pumps responsible for transporting water through the regional network. According to the utility provider, the cause of the stoppage has been identified, and specialist engineers were dispatched immediately to the site to perform a manual reset of the equipment.

The company has moved to reassure the public that the situation is being managed as a priority. A spokesperson for Severn Trent stated that they are confident the "reset" will be successful and that all affected properties should see their service return to normal by 2 pm today.

While the pumps are being brought back online, residents may still notice some lingering discolouration. This is often a side effect of changes in pressure within the pipes and is generally resolved by running the cold kitchen tap at a gentle thin flow for several minutes.

Severn Trent issued a formal apology to those impacted by the morning’s events, acknowledging the frustration caused by the lack of supply and promising to provide further updates via their official channels until the system is fully stabilised.
