Two men and a teenager linked to car cruising in Shropshire have been handed driving bans after videos showing them driving recklessly were discovered by police.

Three linked to car cruising in Shropshire banned from driving

In March officers discovered videos showing three cars driving dangerously in various locations across Shropshire. All videos are relating to separate incidents on different days.

One of video showed Benjamin Fisher carrying out doughnuts in Halesfield in Telford, while another showed Luke Mills doing the same dangerous stunt in Tesco's car park in Shrewsbury.

A third video showed Oskars Gleizups also performing dangerous stunts near Minsterley, before accelerating away from the scene at speed.

Following an investigation between roads policing officers and safer neighbourhood teams, the drivers were identified and sent a Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP). They were later charged with dangerous driving.

This week the three drivers appeared at Telford Magistrates Court where they all pleaded guilty to the charge:

Gleizups, aged 25, of St Davids Close in Malinslee, Telford, appeared on Monday, 22 April. Fisher, aged 22, of Maple Close in Stourport-on-Severn, appeared on Thursday, 23 April, and Mills, aged 19, of Pool Hill Road in Telford, appeared on Friday, 24 April.

All three were handed a 12-month driving disqualification, a four-month curfew between 7pm and 5am, and ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work.

Sergeant Matt Corfield, from Telford's Safer Neighbour Team, said: “These court results send a very clear message that dangerous driving and car cruising activity will not be tolerated in Telford or anywhere across Shropshire.

"The behaviour shown in these videos was reckless, illegal and put members of the public at real risk. The driving bans, curfews and unpaid work handed down by magistrates reflect the seriousness of their actions.

"As part of Operation Chicane, our ongoing campaign to tackle antisocial and dangerous driving, we will continue to identify those who choose to drive in this way and take robust action against them. The work of our officers in securing these convictions shows our commitment to keeping our roads safe.

"We would encourage anyone who witnesses antisocial driving, illegal car racing or dangerous behaviour on our roads to report it to us. Community information is vital, and working with our colleagues in roads policing, we will continue to disrupt this activity and hold offenders to account.”
