Countryside fly-tipping incident at Horderley, near Wistanstow investigated
Shropshire Council has launched an appeal for information following the discovery of a highly concerning fly-tipping incident in the countryside at Horderley, near Wistanstow.

Initial investigations by enforcement officers suggest that the dumped waste may be linked to the motor trade, with possible connections extending to the Crewe and Derby areas. While the council is actively pursuing several lines of enquiry, officials are now turning to the public to help track down those responsible.
Investigating officers are keen to speak with anyone who may have spotted suspicious vehicles operating in or around Horderley recently. Drivers who travelled through the area in recent days are also being urged to check their dashcam footage for any unusual activity.
Furthermore, the council is seeking information regarding waste carriers, garages, or scrap metal operations linked to this specific type of material, as well as any knowledge of waste transport movements travelling from Crewe or Derby into South Shropshire.
A spokesperson for Shropshire Council condemned the dumping, stating that this type of environmental crime shows a clear disregard for local communities, wildlife, and the rural environment. The spokesperson emphasised the council's commitment to identifying and holding perpetrators to account, promising strict enforcement action wherever evidence allows, and calling on residents to work together to protect Shropshire and make it clear that fly-tipping will not be tolerated.
Members of the public who possess any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, are urged to contact the local authority. Reports can be sent via email to streetsceneenforcement@shropshire.gov.uk, or submitted directly through the Shropshire Council website or the Fix My Street mobile application.
