Prolific Telford shoplifter given order banning him from stores

A prolific shoplifter has been given a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO), banning him from entering several Telford stores, including Telford Centre.
Luke Stevens, aged 39, of Dallamoor in Telford, was given the CBO on Wednesday, 20 May, at Telford Magistrates Court after he was found guilty of theft at a previous hearing.
The court was told how Stevens was responsible for thefts across Telford between November 2025 and January 2026. Stevens was given a two-year CBO, which means he cannot enter the following stores Co-op on Grange Avenue in Stirchley, Co-op on Limes Walk in Oakengates, Boots on the Forge Retail Park in Telford and Telford Centre.
The order also means that Stevens must not refuse to a leave a premises when asked to do so by a member of staff or security.
Inspector Rich Jones said: “Stevens’ repeated thefts have had a real impact on local businesses and the staff who work in them. This court order gives us stronger powers to deal with any further offending and helps protect the stores he has targeted.
"We hope this order sends a clear message that persistent shoplifting will not be tolerated, and we will continue to work closely with retailers to take action against those who cause harm in our communities.”
Stevens' CBO will be in place until May 2028, and anyone who him in breach of his conditions is asked to contact police via 101 or report it online.
