Firefighters tackle fire involving two properties and oil tank in Castle Pulverbatch
Fire crews were called to a fire involving two properties and an oil tank in a rural South Shropshire village on Sunday evening.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Castle Pulverbatch at approximately 6.16 pm following reports of a house fire.
Five fire appliances were quickly dispatched to the location, drawing crews from across the county, including stations at Church Stretton, Craven Arms, Minsterley, Shrewsbury, and Telford Central.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a well-developed blaze that had spread across two houses and compromised a nearby domestic oil tank, escalating the complexity and danger of the incident.
Specialist resources were rapidly deployed to support the frontline crews, including an Aerial Ladder Platform to tackle the flames from above, a Foam Pod to manage the volatile oil fire, and an Incident Command Unit to coordinate the extensive operation on the ground.
Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus worked to bring the fire under control. Crews used a combination of high-pressure hose reel jets and larger main jets to suppress the flames and prevent further spread to surrounding properties.
Senior fire officers, including representatives from Operations, Fire Investigation, and Safety teams, also attended the scene to oversee the response.
The incident required a significant multi-agency response to ensure public safety and secure the area. Officials from the Highways Agency are managing local road closures and traffic diversions, while engineering teams from the National Grid and a local utility isolated power.
