Shropshire property solicitors continue setting the standards

A Shropshire firm of property law experts has become one of the first practices in the county to achieve a new benchmark for professional excellence in residential conveyancing.

Much Wenlock-based Fodens Solicitors has been awarded the Law Society’s Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS) after successfully undertaking a series of rigorous independent assessments and audits into its standards of customer care and service.

The scheme has been introduced by the Law Society, the representative body for solicitors in England and Wales, as the industry standard for quality residential conveyancing, and has also been backed by influential organisations such as the Council of Mortgage Lenders, the Building Societies Association, and the Association of British Insurers. To be accepted onto the programme, practices must demonstrate a ‘commitment to excellence’, ‘prudent and effective conveyancing procedures’, and ‘adherence to good practice management standards’. Yet, while approximately 1,100 firms nationwide have been accepted onto the scheme, only a handful from Shropshire have been recognised so far.

“To be admitted to the CQS is a sign that we are a trusted firm which adheres to the highest of standards and industry best practice,” Kelly Davies, Director of Fodens Solicitors, explained. “As membership of the programme is reviewed on an annual basis, firms must also commit to ongoing training and continuous personal development to ensure these standards are not only kept up, but improved. We firmly believe obtaining the accreditation is essential, as it will help to reassure homebuyers, estate agents, and lenders that they will be guaranteed a trusted, transparent and professional service.”

“We have introduced the CQS to promote high standards in the home buying process. Law Society President John Wotton explained. “The scheme improves efficiency with common, consistent standards and service levels, and enables consumers to recognise practices that provide a quality residential conveyancing service.”

The CQS landmark follows on from similar success last summer, when Fodens Solicitors achieved the Lexcel Practice Management Standard – the Law Society’s international yardstick – which is only awarded to solicitors that meet the highest possible management and customer care standards. While Kelly was also recognised at a prestigious House of Commons event held by industry body the Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX) after becoming one of the first 100 Legal Executives in the country to become a fully-fledged partner of a legal practice.
